Which online degree program(s) do you teach?

  • What do you want students in your courses to learn? What is the learning outcome or objective?

Accounting is the language of business! To be successful in life, we must learn to speak the language of those around us. To be successful in business, we must learn to speak accounting!

  • What advice would you give to those considering this program?

Work hard and give it your all. It's worth it!

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the area in which you teach?

An eye for detail and wanting answers to questions such as "What happened and why did that happen?”

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

The biggest problem facing our profession today is the inability to communicate effectively with one another. This includes both written and oral communication. Know your audience. Be prepared by knowing your subject. Be respectful of other's opinions, even though they may not agree with you. Be respectful of time.

  • Why did you start teaching?

I had a very positive experience in my MBA program with highly influential professors. These professors helped to form my attitudes, ethics, determination and motivation. They selflessly sacrificed to be in the teaching world to shape our future business leaders. They could have worked elsewhere and perhaps earned larger salaries, but they were here at HSU giving their best so that I could become my best. They inspired me to do the same some 30 years later.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

    The Bible.

  • Tell us something your students may not know about you:

I love pickleball! I'm just a beginner but have found it to be the most fun ever.
